Prayer Requests

980x520-TyphoonSoudelorTaiwan

Our sisters and brothers in Taiwan have asked for prayer after being pummelled by Typhoon Soudelor over the weekend.

The most serious destruction was concentrated in northern Taiwan, just outside of Taipei. Wu-Lai, a mountain area with many indigenous villages, was especially hit hard with roads and homes washed away in mudslides.

We’ve received word that the relief services of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan are already at work to assist those in need. Donations to the disaster relief efforts can be made to the PCT’s Church and Society Committee, reachable through this email address: society@mail.pct.org.tw.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out from their distress;
he made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
Then they were glad because they had quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to humankind.
—Psalm 107:28-31

Please join us to pray for those directly impacted by the typhoon, for those who lost loved ones, for those who lost homes, for those who lost livelihoods. Please pray especially for the indigenous people of the Wu-Lai area.

Please pray for those are are assisting in the relief and recovery efforts. Bless them with safety, steadfastness and the resources needed to help.

Please pray for Taiwan’s public safety and residential justice, that land development and urban renewal should not be valued higher than residential security and environmental protection.

Please pray for those in southeast China who were also impacted by the typhoon.
