Prayer Requests

Spain floods

The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) expresses deep concern and solidarity with the communities affected by the recent severe flooding in Spain. In light of this crisis, we urge our member churches and global partners to come together in prayer and support for those impacted.

The catastrophic floods have caused significant damage, displacing families, destroying homes, and disrupting livelihoods. As communities face the aftermath of this disaster, Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi, general secretary of the WCRC, emphasizes the urgent need for collective prayer and assistance. “In times of crisis, our faith calls us to stand together in solidarity with those who are suffering,” he states. “Let us lift up our voices in prayer for the victims, first responders, and all those working tirelessly to bring relief.”

Among the WCRC member churches in Spain is the Iglesia Evangélica Española (Evangelical Church of Spain). These communities are vital to the Reformed tradition in the region and play an essential role in responding to the needs of those affected by the floods.

We encourage all congregations to incorporate specific prayers for the flood-affected regions into their worship services. Additionally, we invite churches to consider ways they can provide practical support, whether through financial contributions, supplies, or volunteer efforts.

The WCRC stands ready to facilitate connections among member churches and organizations that can assist in recovery efforts. Rev. Dr. Nyomi calls on churches to share their resources and expertise, recognizing that together we can make a more substantial impact.

As we respond to this crisis, let us also reflect on the broader issues of climate change and environmental stewardship that contribute to such natural disasters. The WCRC remains committed to advocating for justice and sustainable practices that protect vulnerable communities worldwide.

In the spirit of support and love, we are reminded of Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” May we embody this call as we come together to support our brothers and sisters in need.
