Leaders of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) met with the National Host Committee in Chiang Mai this week, as churches across Thailand prepare to receive participants of the 27th General Council this October.
WCRC President the Rev. Najla Kassab and General Secretary the Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi were warmly welcomed by leadership of the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT), along with members of the Host Committee and 15 supporting sub-committees. The meetings affirmed a shared commitment to hospitality, justice and communion across the global Reformed family.
Rev. Najla Kassab said:
“Preparing for the 27th General Council of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) in Chiang Mai is an enriching journey that invites us to value the essence of living as a true communion. Engaging with the leadership of the Church of Christ and the dedicated facilitators of 15 sub-committees of the National Host Committee are beautifully involved, reflects our shared faith, unity, and steadfast commitment to shaping a more just world. The perseverance in this preparation stands as a powerful witness to a vibrant and living Communion.”
Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi added:
“Being in Thailand these last few days has given a new appreciation for the the enthusiasm with which the Church of Christ in Thailand is preparing to host the General Council. The love and hospitality from the church leaders to each member of the Host Committee and its sub-committees, women and men demonstrate that participants in the 27th General Council are in for a very good fellowship of prayer, celebration and discerning the will of God.”
Church of Christ in Thailand leaders spoke with joy about hosting the international event, which will bring together Reformed delegates from more than 100 countries.
Rev. Boonrathna Boayen, Moderator of the CCT, said:
“We are very excited to welcome you all to beautiful Thailand. The churches and people of Thailand are waiting to welcome their sisters and brothers from all over the world.”
General Secretary Mr. Surapong Mitrakul offered a spiritual reflection:
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” “The challenge of mobilising resources for the General Council has been great. But we have experienced God in our process of preparation and can affirm that with God, nothing is impossible.”
The Host Committee’s communications team echoed the message of welcome.
Ms. Subarachada Chuthai of the Public Relations Team said:
“It is our honour to welcome participants to the 27th General Council of the WCRC. We deem it a privilege to welcome sisters and brothers from all over the world.”
Dr. Sirinan Sriwenraskul stated:
“The beauty of diversity is to Glorify Almighty God. This is what we expect to see in the General Council in October.”
Mr. Nuttee Kumlachampires said:

The 27th General Council will be a gathering of prayer, theological discernment and collective action toward justice and communion in today’s world. The enthusiastic preparation by Thai churches offers a powerful sign of faith in action.
