The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) has joined seven global Christian organizations in expressing deep concern about the humanitarian and social consequences of the widening conflict in the Middle East and the threat it poses to peace and security in the region and beyond.

In a joint statement with the World Council of Churches, Middle East Council of Churches, Lutheran World Federation, World Methodist Council, Mennonite World Conference, Christian Conference of Asia, and ACT Alliance, church leaders warned that the escalation of violence will deepen humanitarian suffering across the region.

The statement highlights the grave risks facing the more than 92 million people of Iran, who already endure complex political, economic, and social challenges. It warns that humanitarian suffering will intensify if the conflict continues.

The churches also expressed serious concern over reported violations of international humanitarian law and called on all parties to protect civilians and refrain from targeting civilian infrastructure.

Grounded in Christian faith, the organizations reaffirmed their rejection of war and violence. “War is incompatible with God’s will for humanity,” the statement notes, emphasizing the God-given dignity and rights of all people and calling for renewed commitment to justice and peace.
