The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) is hosting a significant Global Members and Partners Programme Reflection Round Table from December 5th to 9th in Hannover. The event gathers WCRC leaders, regional council conveners, and global partners to reflect on 150 years of mission and impact, while envisioning a shared path forward toward justice, unity, and transformative action.

The round table, themed “The WCRC Today: 150 Years and Counting,” is more than a commemoration—it is a strategic moment of collaboration and renewal. WCRC President Najla Kassab described the gathering as a “new time of envisioning together.”

The partners meeting is a new time of envisioning together how to move forward in a spirit of trust, celebration, and togetherness. It is a continued commitment to strengthening the communion witness around the regions, working towards justice, hearing the voices from the regions, and partnering with all those committed for a better tomorrow for the suffering around us. It is a commitment to the journey with renewed strength,” Kassab shared.

The WCRC’s commitment to collaboration is echoed by its partners. Jooseop Keum, General Secretary of the Council for World Mission, highlighted the prophetic and transformative nature of their relationship:“The partnership of the Council for World Mission with the World Communion of Reformed Churches is spiritual, strong, and strategic, based on a prophetic witness that is directed towards radical discipleship and transformative change of both church and society.”

Lydia Funck of Brot für die Welt emphasized the shared pursuit of justice:“As the WCRC is supporting its member churches in strengthening their role and impact as transformative advocates for economic, social, and gender justice, it is good to be on this journey together.”

Rev. Jihyun Oh, executive director and stated clerk of the General Assembly of the interim unified agency of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), underscored the importance of ecumenical collaboration: “The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has always understood that to be Reformed is to be ecumenical. We are discerning how best to be good ecumenical partners in this time and place, because we recognize that our witness to Christ’s redeeming work in the world demands partnership and working together. As a communion of Reformed Christians living in today’s complex world, the World Communion of Reformed Churches provides an invaluable convening space for strengthening our ecumenical partnerships as we bear witness to God’s shalom in a broken and hurting world.”

Planning for the Future
The round table includes presentations on WCRC’s programme highlights, small group discussions on collaboration and resourcing, and worship moments to foster spiritual connection. Delegates are reflecting on the 20-year impact of the Accra Confession during the Accra+20 worship service and preparing actionable steps for the 2025 General Council.

The gathering will conclude with the presentation of the Listener’s Report, a synthesis of insights and commitments, along with a closing devotion. It signals the WCRC’s readiness to engage its next chapter with resilience and purpose.

This event reinforces the WCRC’s role as a unifying voice in a fractured world, calling its global communion to remain steadfast in its mission for justice, peace, and transformative change.
