The Global Reformed Advocacy Platforms for Engagement (GRAPE) programme is now accepting applications for its next cohort of participants from Kenya and South Africa.

As the world grapples with an unjust economic system and the escalating climate crisis, GRAPE aims to challenge these systemic issues head-on. The programme leverages the church’s unique role as both a local and global force, fostering collaboration to address these urgent challenges through advocacy and action.

Since its launch in 2022, the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) has piloted GRAPE in Kenya and South Africa. Under the initiative, local member churches have built inclusive platforms that unite ecumenical, interfaith, and civil society actors in collective advocacy efforts.

Who Should Apply?

Each year, GRAPE selects five new trainees in each country to participate in its transformative programme. Eligible applicants must:

  • Reside in Kenya or South Africa.
  • Be affiliated with WCRC member churches, ecumenical or interfaith networks, civil society organizations, or government bodies.
  • Have experience and a strong commitment to addressing social and economic justice issues.
  • Operate at a strategic level to influence change in their communities.

Applicants should also possess skills or interest in these areas:

  • Advocacy and policy debates.
  • Research or analytical work.
  • Economic and sociological concepts.
  • Contextual theology.
  • Leadership and good standing in their church or community.
  • Team collaboration with a drive for excellence.

Participants are expected to commit to four workshops and dedicate one day a week for 18 months to GRAPE activities.

  • Tuition fees.
  • Accommodations with meals.
  • Roundtrip economy airfare.
  • Local transportation.
  • A tablet and data for virtual meetings, with mandatory camera participation.
