Prayer Requests

This Pentecost, we call on the Reformed Communion to pray for Cuba. Cuba has been experiencing an economic crisis that has its roots in the trade embargo and that has been exacerbated by COVID-19. The crisis manifests itself as widespread shortages of food, hygiene products, medicines and other basic items. There is also a deepening energy crisis that is causing frequent blackouts and affecting essential services.

Come, Holy Spirit,

Bestow your tongues of fire upon the young who dream dreams and upon the old who see visions, on women who hope for a future free from violence, on children longing for a world where there is security and enough for all.

We thank you for the comfort you bring to every human being. Please help us recognize the human rights of all people, regardless of their background or circumstances. May our hearts be filled with compassion for those who are marginalized, oppressed or suffering.

Grant wisdom and strength to our leaders to uphold their commitment to human rights and promote equality for all. Guide us to actively defend human rights and challenge injustice wherever we encounter it. May we work together to create a world where all people are treated with respect and fairness, and where the cries of the oppressed are heard and acted upon.

Today, we pray for our siblings in Cuba, asking for strength, resilience and hope. May we discover ways to build bridges of understanding and compassion as we strive toward a world where peace and justice prevail.

Through your Son, Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us, we pray for the arrival of your reign of justice and love, where every person is valued and respected. Amen.
