WCRC Interim General Secretary Setri Nyomi brought a spirit of gratitude and encouragement to Saturday’s worship and Bible study as he recognized the young stewards and pastoral care team who have supported the General Council throughout the week.

Approximately 44 young people—22 from Thailand and 22 from countries around the world—were invited to the stage to be thanked for their service.

“You are a very important part of this General Council,” Nyomi said. “They are professionals; some are ministers and are serving their churches in various ways, including serving us here.”

The stewards, who have worked tirelessly to assist delegates and facilitate daily sessions, were met with warm applause from participants across the global Reformed family. Nyomi highlighted their presence as a vital expression of unity, faith, and youthful leadership within the communion.

Adding a lighthearted challenge, Nyomi gave delegates what he called “homework”: to meet and get to know at least five stewards each day during the remainder of the conference. The goal, he said, was to strengthen fellowship and mutual understanding across cultures and generations.

Turning his attention to the pastoral care team, Nyomi expressed deep appreciation for their ministry of presence and compassion. “There are times when you need a listening ear,” he said. “We have a pastoral care team, and their numbers are in the handbooks. Where the need is, call them and go to them.”

His words served as a reminder of the community’s shared responsibility to care for one another—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally—as the global Reformed family continues its discernment and worship together in Chiang Mai.
