Rev. Philip Vinod Peacock, general secretary of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), greeted the 111th General Assemblies of the Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK) and the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK), calling the churches to be peacemakers on a peninsula that still bears the wound of division.

On a Peninsula That Still Bears the Wound of Division

In his greetings, Peacock reflected on the church’s reality. “You gather on a peninsula that still bears the wound of division. The gospel we proclaim is a gospel of reconciliation, and Christ himself is our peace, who has broken down the dividing wall.”

He called on the delegates of both assemblies to be peacemakers, “praying and labouring for the day when the walls come down, and the scattered are gathered home.”

Thanksgiving for the Korean Churches

Peacock affirmed the church as “a gift to the global communion,” giving thanks to God for its witness. His greetings closed with a blessing, “May the Spirit renew you in courage and in hope.”

The WCRC shares historical ties with the Korean Presbyterian tradition, and Korean churches have long played a significant role in the Communion’s global mission.
