The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) has published From Leipzig to Chiang Mai, a comprehensive account of the communion’s journey from before the 26th General Council in Leipzig to the upcoming 27th General Council in Chiang Mai, Thailand, 14–23 October 2025. This special edition coincides with the WCRC’s 150th anniversary and provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the communion’s history of faithful witness, prophetic engagement, and perseverance across generations.

For many decades, the WCRC and its antecedents have produced reports documenting the life and witness of the communion between General Councils. This publication continues that tradition while including a new chapter that revisits the period before the last General Council in Leipzig. By situating the past in dialogue with the present, From Leipzig to Chiang Mai offers both historical insight and inspiration for the future, encouraging churches to persevere in faith and witness.

The publication highlights significant theological, justice, mission, and communion initiatives undertaken during the inter-council period. It reflects on the work of the WCRC’s Strategic Planning and Programme Committees, ecumenical engagements, advocacy initiatives, and efforts to address global challenges including ecological justice, gender justice, and human rights. Key projects, consultations, and collaborations are documented, illustrating the communion’s ongoing commitment to being a prophetic presence in the world.

“Through this publication, we reflect on our journey from Leipzig to Chiang Mai and are reminded that now, more than ever, we are called to persevere in our faith and witness,” said the Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi, interim general secretary.

Through this publication, the WCRC aims to inspire its member churches to continue discerning God’s will and to remain steadfast in witness, even amidst the challenges of contemporary global contexts. As the communion approaches the 27th General Council, the theme “Persevere in your witness” underscores the enduring call for faithful engagement across all regions and contexts.
