The Presbyterian Church of Pakistan shares an appeal to the global church after court proceedings and deliberations highlighted legal ambiguities between statutory law and religious interpretations, especially in cases involving minor girls. The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) and other international organizations were named in this appeal to support Pakistani churches and civil society organizations that are working for child protection, education, and the safety of vulnerable girls.

In the appeal, Rev. Sharaz Sharif Alam, General Secretary for the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan, says, “For marginalized communities, this is not only a legal issue – it is a matter of human dignity, child protection, religious freedom, and the future of our children.”

The WCRC affirms that the Church is one body, and when one part suffers, all suffer together. The WCRC stands in solidarity with the Church of Pakistan as it seeks justice, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence in its society.
